Who We Are

Alan, Patricia & Jessica Rush; with Ebony, Toscane, Athos, Baileys & Ruby

More specifically – Who I am… My name is Patricia or ‘Pat’ as most club people know me! The Epagneul Breton or ‘Brittany’ has been my passion since I was fourteen years old…  I was given a 4 month old liver puppy called Clochette who proved to be the most intelligent dog I have ever had; 31 years on and my enthusiasm has not waned.  I managed to purchase my first bitch from the President of the BCGB Stanley Smith and after this decided I would like to do some showing too. Travelling to Wales, I then bought a further two dogs from the Joymonds Kennel: Joymonds Diamant and Asterix. I had fallen in love with the Black and White on admiring Joymonds Victoriana and I still have a penchant for that colour.

My current dogs descend from Diamant and we are now in our 7th generation. Since then, we have imported 18 dogs from France and those are from the top kennels which include many of the Elite Stud males there. We believe in only using good looking working dogs as the breed is a working dog, and work it should do.

Our quest to learn as much as possible on the breed has led me to judge, culminating in my appointment at Crufts in 2010, going abroad to the USA to help with a Seminar with French expert Jacques Francois Bordet, being student judge at 2 Nationales. Winning BOB with my homebred bitch Ch. Patouche Toscane in France and often exporting abroad now, even as far as Taiwan, Ireland, Dubai, Australia, Malta, and most recently Sweden.

Ch. Patouche Jiji

First bitch Champion in the UK (owner Mr & Mrs Lockie)

We are of the strong opinion that the breed should remain as close to the French standard as possible and with that aim we carry on working and trialing our dogs, as well as going back to France to visit kennels and bringing in fresh blood.

I am now looking forward to many more challenges over the next few years…My daughter Jessica is now joining in our venture to take the Patouche name further. She is now also a qualified championship judge.

To date our homebred Ch. Patouche Gucci (Owner Mrs K. Orde Powlett) joins Ch. Patouche Toscane, Ch. Lorca de Keranlouan, and Ch. Patouche Jiji (owners Mr & Mrs Lockie – dam of the first dual Champion) in having his full title.

Our Show Champions are Ivry de Keranlouan, Patouche Baileys, Patouche Horace, Patouche Diablesse (Owner Val Howse), Irish Sh. Ch Patouche Orelie, UKC Ch Patouche Monseigneur.
